Carriage of Dangerous Goods - ADR
The European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) was updated in 2009.
Under the ADR, all vehicles carrying dangerous goods in the UK, irrespective of size, must carry at least the following miscellaneous equipment:
- wheel chock (at least one)
- two self standing warning signs (lamps or reflective triangles)
- warning vest or warning clothing for each member of the crew
- a pocket lamp for each member of the crew (ATEX rated if used in a flammable atmosphere)
- a 2kg ABC type of fire extinguisher
In addition, and dependant on the class of load carried, the vehicle must carry the following equipment:
- classes 3 to 9 require eye rinsing liquid
- classes 2.3 & 6.1 require an emergency escape mask
- classes 3, 4.1, 4.3, 8, 9 require a drain seal (cover), shovel and plastic collecting container
